Houston City Club Wedding by Sarah Ainsworth Photography

Fresh, elegant, lovely. These words describe both bride Monica AND her spring wedding to her handsome groom, Bruno. Here’s a romantic tale to make your heart go pitter-pat: The pair met while Monica was on vacation in Buenos Aires, visiting friends who were studying abroad there. On the last night of her trip, the group visited a neighborhood pub, where Bruno happened to be hanging out. The two hit it off like gangbusters, but, alas, Houston-bound Monica had to jet home the next morning—not without giving Bruno her contact info, though. Eight months, and zillions of Skype calls and Facebook messages later, Monica made it back to Argentina for a legal internship. “As soon as we saw each other again, we knew we had found our soul mates,” Monica says. “We began dating immediately and got engaged one year later.” Their Houston City Club wedding celebration, with its exceptionally elegant palette of coral, cream and hints of navy blue, is a testament to the power of long-distance love—not to mention a knockout showcase of some of Houston’s finest wedding talent, including Occasio Productions, Blooming Gallery and Who Made the Cake, along with photographer Sarah Ainsworth, whose terrific pix are featured here. We’ve got a special shout-out for the bride, who chose coral for her bridesmaids’ palette, but let each of her gals choose her own dress style. The arrangement turned out perfectly—and don’t those ’maids look happy? Congratulations y felicidades to Monica and Bruno!

Romantic Robin Hood Engagement Shoot by Emily Kiel

“Peter and I have always felt like we are old souls and we seem to gravitate towards vintage things, folk tales, and things from the past,” bride-to-be Mikayla tells us. For the couple’s engagement shoot, the pair wanted to tell the story of their love within a classic story of love. Which we love. Photographer Emily Kiel was right on board, setting the pair’s e-session in an empty Conroe lot—a suitably green stand-in for the classic Robin Hood tale’s Sherwood Forest. Etsy, Ebay and an antique shop served as sources for the vintage furniture, bow and arrows, and Mikayla’s pretty white dress. The bullseye target was homemade. As for the couple’s love, it is “classic and timeless,” says Mikayla, just like the story that inspired their romantic shoot. Happiest wishes to the winsome couple, and big thanks to Emily Kiel for the fine photos.

Vibrant, Whimsical Aquarium Wedding by RSVP Studios

We all know it’s important to “love thy neighbor.” But Vanessa and Brandon took the adage WAY to heart. As fellow renters in a Houston apartment complex, the two bumped into each other one night in the hallway. “After meeting once, we couldn’t seem to be without each other, and started out adventure,” Vanessa says. The highlight (so far) of that joyful journey? That would be the couple’s June wedding, starting with a splendid ceremony at Galveston’s historic Grace Episcopal Church, and culminating with a fun-filled (if somewhat fishy) reception at Moody Gardens Aquarium. In her utterly dreamy Exclusive Edition by Allure gown from Houston’s Weddings by Debbie, and with that dazzling smile, Vanessa is the very picture of wedding-day glamour and giddiness—even when snuggling her sweetie whilst ol’ looms overhead. Seriously, this delightfully playful—and still exceptionally elegant—celebration reminds us of just how much fun a wedding can and should be. We’re so thankful to Vanessa and Brandon for sharing their exuberant personalities and special day with us, and equally grateful to RSVP Studios for the superb pix! What do YOU think of this aquatic affair? Post your comment here!

Shotgun Bride (But Not That Kind!) By Steve Lee Weddings

Don’t let them dimples fool ya. Behind that sweet exterior, that gorgeous Judd Waddell gown, that flawless hair and makeup, beats the heart of a hunter. As photographer Steve Lee explains, “During her engagement shoot, Shayla mentioned she likes to hunt and that she might bring her shotgun to the bridal. I wasn’t sure if she was kidding, but to my surprise, she did bring it!” And boy did it make for some seriously stunning shots. Um, as in, photos. Sure, Lee had to scout something fierce to find a downtown spot far away from the eyes of potentially freaked-out onlookers (not to mention keeping clear of cops), but as a fine art photographer who makes it his job to get the perfect shot, that’s precisely what he did. Congratulations, Shayla, and kudos to you for making your bridal session your very own! How about y’all? What personal item(s) would you bring to your bridal shoot to make it a reflection of your unique you-ness? Let us know!

Rustic-Gorgeous Texas Ranch Wedding by Christine Meeker Studios

Boots, Goode Co. BBQ and a beautiful ranch setting—Andrea and Cameron’s wedding is a Texas classic…with plenty of delicious twists. There’s the lovely hand-hewn altar with its repurposed wood doors and charming crystal chandelier. There are the boot-wearing b-maids in their sweetly mismatched frocks, the groom’s and groomsmen’s cream linen suits and dapper pink ties. There’s bride Andrea herself, with her tousled locks and miles of pretty pearls. And, of course, there’s that enchanting, open-sided Jacqueline Chapelle tent, which hardly needs decor enhancement of any kind (though we do love the couple’s choice of deep-pink table linens and classic gold chiavaris). Kudos to Triple L Designs for its work on this evocative wedding.  Thanks to Christine Meeker Studios for the great photos, and congratulations to Andrea and Cameron!
