Vintage Elegant Hotel Galvez Wedding by Joshua Tyi Photography

There’s something so darn timeless and captivating about Shaw and Kael’s morning wedding at Galveston’s historic Hotel Galvez. Everything from the wash of coastal light to the vintage-inspired palette of warm golden brown and bright poppy red to the charmingly attired couple themselves is picture-perfect. Here’s something else that was perfect: the groom’s acknowledgement of the the day’s precious moments. “One thing I really appreciated was that throughout the day Kael would stop me and say, ‘Let’s remember this moment,’ which was a nice way to slow down and not forget anything important amidst a busy, emotional day,” explains Shaw. Grooms: Take note! Everyone else, take a moment to savor this delightful Galveston wedding, with fabulous photos courtesy of Houston-based Joshua Tyi Photography.

Classic, Romantic Agave Road Wedding by Select Studios

Oh, how we love a bride who doesn’t sweat the small stuff. Of course, Liliana could have had a breakdown when she realized she’d forgotten the bag containing all her makeup, her spare shoes and her hair accessory back at the hotel where she’d gotten prepped. And sure, she could have given in to the frustration of dealing with a verrrry fussy bustle on her beautiful Pronovias gown. But, at she says, “At the end of the day, you just have to laugh and go with it!” We couldn’t agree more. Instead of focusing on glitches, our lovely bride decided to focus on Jesus, her handsome groom, and the 220 loving guests gathered at Agave Road to celebrate the couple’s union until 2 a.m., when the newlyweds departed for a few hours of shuteye before a 6 a.m. flight to their St. Lucia honeymoon. Thank you, Liliana, for the lesson in gracious bride-ing—and for sharing your picture-perfect Select Studios wedding photos, and joyful story, with us!

Texture Filled Fall Wedding at Houston’s Briscoe Manor

College sweethearts, a Christmas day proposal, a fabulous fall wedding at Houston’s Briscoe Manor—color us charmed. Bride Eva says that for her wedding to Carlo, “textures were a priority,” which is why you see them everywhere from the cool cork table-number holders to Floriography’s architectural apple-and-sunflower table arrangements, to Edible Designs by Jessie’s tree-bark wedding cake, to guests’ gridded “Stroopwafel” cookie favors. We love the contrast of all those earthy, autumnal shades and motifs to glamorous bride Eva’s glittering brooch bouquet and sky-high gold sparkle platforms. Congratulations to the newlyweds, and big thanks to Cornerstone Photography for the pix!

Guest Post: Megan Silianoff of Greetings From Texas on Her Dream (Second) Wedding

Veil Jcrew Birdcage Veil ~ “Something Blue” Purse Chanel Vintage ~ Color Palette DVF ~ Flower Girl Dress T Length Dress ~ Wedding Dress Agata Swing ~ Centerpiece BHLDN ~ Getting Ready Shirt Claridge & King ~ Shoes Joie Sandal & Victoria Secret Mid Heel, which comes in tons of different colors!

“Hi! I’m Megan from Greetings from Texas! I’m a writer/blogger living in Houston’s Medical Center. My husband, Danny, and I eloped* five years ago (come May) so we never got to have that full out, kit and caboodle of a wedding. Because Danny had been married once before and I’d been engaged, we wanted to sneak away discreetly to tie the knot as, clearly, we’d had our fill of wedding related drama. =)

Five years later, however, it’s a different story. We’re now living in the era of Pinterest! Instagram! Blogs! With their influence, along with some distance from our past relationships, I’ve got a dream wedding inside my head that’s dying to get out. This is what it will look like when it comes to full fruition.

*Note: I’m using the term “elope” loosely. We did invite our immediate families to our wedding at The Four Seasons in Austin. They were sworn to secrecy however and prohibited from telling friends or extended family members!

What My Vow Renewal Will Entail

The Dress: I eloped in a white, strapless, cocktail dress from White House Black Market. I didn’t even like it but because I didn’t want to wear a formal wedding dress, my options were slim. This was a pre-BHLDN era! This time around, part of me thinks I should don the same dress and make it more likeable with accessories; gloves, a veil, jewelry, etc. The other part of me says “ah, screw it” and just wants to buy this one.

Flower Girl & Ring Bearer: Danny and I have adopted one child and one pet since we married 5 years ago. Booker, our dog who we got from a Chicago shelter, will be our ring bearer. Chances are he’ll never make it down the aisle but we’ll roll with it. Our beautiful baby girl, Macy, came to us just four months ago through an Austin adoption agency. (More details about her adoption here on my blog.)

The Cake: Chocolate for me. Carrot for him.

The Wedding Photographer: Paige Budde of Awake Photographyshe’s a personal friend.

The Location: Something al fresco and on a ranch; perhaps Old Glory Ranch.

DIY: Last time around we DIY’ed our invitations and programs. It’d be more work this time around with a significantly larger guest list but I’m up for the challenge.

Wedding Song: Last time around there was no DJ or band – just an IPod playing music throughout dinner. We got up and danced, however, when Beyoncé’s “Irreplaceable” came on, unintentionally making it our wedding song. This time around we’ll dance to even more Beyoncé songs, in addition to tunes by her hubby!

And that y’all, concludes what I’m envisioning. Now on to the execution!=)

*To see more pictures from my wedding at the Four Seasons, check out my Greetings From Texas Facebook page. And while you’re at it, hop on over to my blog, Greetings from Texas!! See you there!”

Petroleum Club Wedding by SB Image Studios

They fell in love over barbecued squirrel… Now THAT’S a sentence you don’t hear every day. But it’s the one that describes the blossoming relationship between Maria and Jarrod, who met at a backyard party and instantly connected when the groom-to-be fed his future bride a tasty bite of the grilled critter he’d shot just moments earlier. Ah, romance. Three years after their barbecue bonding, the pair wed in a decidedly more upscale celebration, starting with a formal ceremony at the Co-Cathedral of the Sacred Heart, filled with music—from a rousing choral performance to a live brass quintet playing the Trumpet Voluntary for the bride’s processional. To marry her squirrel-hunting beau, bride Maria wore a La Sposa dress she customized herself: “My mother and I, along with help from friends and family, sewed Swarovski crystals and pearl beads all throughout my lace and tulle gown, and cathedral-length train. It took us six months to complete.” On top of that, “I also hand made the bridesmaids’ jewelry and completely designed the cake, by drawing and submitting my design for Edible Designs by Jessie to make.” Now that’s our kind of DIY. The couple’s 300-guest reception at the beautiful Petroleum Club of Houston treated celebrants to a sit-down dinner, the aforementioned cake, and lots of dancing, after which Maria and Jarrod departed by—what else—a horse-drawn carriage. The night was truly magical—all thanks to our many supportive and loving guests,” the grateful (and gracious) bride says. Our thanks to SB Image Studios for sharing photos of this splendid Houston wedding—and our happiest wishes to the lovely couple!
