Navy and Ivory Briscoe Manor Wedding by Lindsay Elizabeth Photography

What is it about dimpled beauties and fitness-related meet-cutes?? Even though Scott admits he “hated the challenges of a spin class” (um, yeah, been there), he figured strained muscles and spent lung capacity was worth it if it meant winning a “million-dollar smile” from the girl of his dreams—spin/cycling instructor Sarah. After forming a friendship and—our favorite part—falling in love, the two got engaged, in the spin studio where they first met (natch). “Briscoe Manor offered a distinctive, chic and truly Texas wedding venue with its limestone architecture and country setting among the pecan and oak trees,” Sarah tells us—the perfect spot to introduce Canadian-born Scott’s family to her native state. Her most memorable moments? “Getting to see Scott for the first time before the ceremony and spending special moments with my soon-to-be husband, and looking around at a room full of friends and family that we love so dearly. I especially enjoyed getting to introduce all of the Canadian guests to a true Texas-themed wedding!” And WE especially enjoy getting to introduce Sarah and Scott to YOU—with help from Lindsay Elizabeth’s ever lovely photos, of course!

Coral and Turquoise Brady’s Landing Wedding by Civic Photos

For his proposal to his beautiful Rachel, Brandon took her back to the karaoke bar where they’d first met, did a few of his best tunes…and then asked her to make beautiful music with him for the rest of their lives. Aww… To celebrate the couple’s June wedding, 200 friends and family members gathered at Brady’s Landing, where they enjoyed dining and dancing, surrounded by decor in a fresh, summery palette of coral and turquoise. While most brides might have an element or two of their wedding they might do differently, or a minor mishap they wished they’d been able to avoid, not so Houston bride Rachel: “I loved my wedding; everything was perfect,” she says. Big thanks to Civic Photos for the vintage-feel photos, and congrats to the beaming newlyweds!

Classic Winter Wedding at the Crystal Ballroom at The Rice

“We wanted a very classic winter wedding, and the historic Crystal Ballroom was perfect for this,” says Houston bride Ingrid of her wedding to her handsome groom George. The pair, who met online at eHarmony.com—“We had our first date a music festival at Discovery Green, met for dinner again the next night, and could not get enough of each other from then on,” Ingrid recounts—hosted 215 guests for an evening of ceremony and celebration, including all-night dancing to a full live band, and a gold, pewter and cream wedding color scheme that echoed December’s wintry hues. “We danced a well-rehearsed fox trot to ‘It Had To Be You’—our friends and family were very impressed by it. The band kept a full crowd on the dance floor and everyone (young and old) enjoyed it. Guests finally sent us on our way with white ecofetti that looked like snow, and the party continued at the pub next door.” Now that’s how to kick off a life of good times together! Big thanks to Blanca Duran for very pretty photos of this fabulous fete, and congratulations to Ingrid and George.

Hip and Adorable Orange Show and Menil Collection Engagement Shoot

Deb recalls how Lee chased her around for an entire year at their alma mater, Texas A&M. “I finally let him take me on a date,” she says. “It was the best decision I made in college.” About her engagement shoot locations, she says, “We chose the Orange Show because I have loved it from my times in high school when we would go to Houston from Sugar Land and ‘be cool.’ I also dabble in art and I have loved getting my inspiration from places like the Orange Show. The Menil has been my respite throughout our dating career. After all, in five years Lee has moved four times and there have been times when sitting in the grass or walking the halls of the Menil were the only thing that could soothe my soul.” Photos from photography studio Spindle Life attest to the couple’s adorableness and joy—which will only increase when the happy pair makes it official in November at The Rainbow Lodge. Fun, Relaxed, Dance-Fueled Houston Wedding by DC Stanley Photography

“After we got engaged, Eric told me that the only thing he wanted in our wedding was to have the Spazmatics play during the reception,” recounts bride Melissa. “I had no idea that band would shape our entire wedding.” That wedding started with a ceremony at the Houston Arboretum—“I love the idea of bringing our kids back to the exact spot we got married to have a picnic,” the bride says. Next, guests headed to Houston’s House of Blues for a fun, upbeat, joy-filled party featuring Southern comfort food, red velvet cake and tons of dancing. DC Stanley Photography’s photos of this event are nothing short of fantastic, but Melissa says the photographer’s talents go beyond just pointing and shooting. “David and his wife are an amazing team. I hate posed pictures and he does an amazing job of catching the moment without being intrusive. His work looks more like art then wedding photography. He was also extremely helpful when needed. My bustle kept falling out and he helped my bridesmaid fix it. He has been to a lot of weddings and has tons of knowledge. I am sure he could be a wedding planner if he wanted to.” Aww… how sweet is that? However, we do hope the Stanley duo keep taking gorgeous wedding photos, so we can keep showing them to you, our beloved Houston brides! Congratulations, Melissa and Eric, and thank you for sharing your very special day.

Purple, Silver and Bling Wedding at The Majestic Metro

“He said for about a year that he was going to marry me even though I was not even into him,” says recent Houston bride Amanda. “As it turns out, I ended up falling in love with him.” Which just goes to show you, it pays to keep an open heart. Are we right, ladies?? Amanda and persistent (and adorable) Jimmy tied the knot with a ceremony at the bride’s parents’ church—where, incidentally, the couple reconnected after having known each other in elementary school before the future groom and his family moved away—followed by a fabulous party at the historic Majestic Metro theater. Shades of deep purple, silver and cool white set the tone for the night, while crystals sparkled everywhere—on candelabras, napkin holders, and a gorgeous purple-banded, brooch-accented cake from Who Made The Cake. Photographer Robin Maxwell’s photos perfectly capture the sophisticated celebratory vibe of this cool Houston wedding. And the couple? So sweet. Congratulations, you two.

The Silhouette Studio’s Sarah Williams’ Beautiful East Texas Vow Renewal

Photographer Sarah Williams of HWB fave The Silhouette Studio recently shared her own 2013 vow renewal with us—and we are so glad she did. Not just any ol’ restating of sacred commitments (although it involved that, too), Williams’ wondrous Elmwood Gardens vow renewal was a chance for the photographer and her one-and-only, Caleb, to have the celebration they didn’t get a chance to when the two eloped back in 2011 while Caleb, a Marine, was in training. Feast your eyes on Williams’ beautiful event, created with help from a slate of super-talented East Texas wedding specialists—shot by the bride herself (except for portraits of Williams and her family, which are the work of Krystle Akin Photography). And while you’re at it, check out Williams’ work on HWB, and get the full love story behind her vow renewal on her own blog. Congratulations, Sarah, we couldn’t be happier for you and Caleb!

White, Pink and Lime Houston Country Club Wedding

Introduced by a mutual friend when the groom moved to Houston for work in 2009, Leanne and West “instantly clicked,” the bride says. Lots more clicking came one fateful eve when the two arrived at their fave Tex-Mex spot for what the bride thought was a regular ol’ Saturday-night date. We’ll let her tell the tale in her own words: “When I reached the top of the stairs, on the way to our seat, I saw a table on the landing with flowers, candles and a frame that said, ‘Leanne and West, St. Martin’s Episcopal Church, June 16, 2012?’ When I turned around, West was on one knee with the whole restaurant cheering him on as he proposed. Before he even put the ring on my finger, the curtains to the upstairs flew open and all of our family and friends were there waiting to celebrate with us. It was fantastic!” Nice work, Mr. Gotcher. The pair’s June wedding, with its “crisp, clean, summery” feel and Who Made The Cake creations—including a surprise groom’s cake in the shape of West’s favorite boots—treated more than 500 guests to an evening of dining (chicken-fried steak and green-tomato sliders, anyone?), dancing and general merriment. Big thanks to Chris Bailey for images of this fresh and fabulous Houston wedding, and big congrats to Leanne and West!
