Weddings in Houston: What inspired the creation of the Timeless HTX Band, and how did the band come together?
Timeless HTX Band: Paul and Ivy are a husband-and-wife team whose music careers and performing experience have lasted over 40 years. Ivy is a classically trained pianist and has performed in the Philippines. Paul has extensive stage and recording studio experience. He has performed with the likes of Tim McGraw, Faith Hill, Merle Haggard, Charlie Daniels, Lone Star, Ricochet, Trace Adkins, Michael Peterson, The Tubes founder Bill Spooner, Charo, The Coasters, and Lila McCain. Paul has also performed on the TNN and CMT television networks and with the Royal Caribbean Cruise Lines in the Caribbean Islands and Europe. Paul also recorded an album of original songs with his former band, Memphis Exchange, in 1996. The album was recorded at Studio D in Sausalito, California, and featured Dwight Yoakum’s fiddle player Scott Joss, Nashville producer and studio musician Al Perkins, and the one and only Huey Lewis. Since 1990, Paul and Ivy have also owned and operated Kreuzer Music Studio, providing music instruction to kids of all ages (started in San Francisco, then Houston). Paul and Ivy have been married for 35 years and want to provide you and your guests with the best music and entertainment to get your “happily ever after” off to a perfect start. This was the inspiration for the birth of the Timeless HTX Band.
WiH: How would you describe the signature sound and style of the band?
THB: Timeless HTX packs an explosive and entertaining show that will surely make your special event a night to remember. They have quickly become a force to be reckoned with in the Houston music scene by bringing their energy, joy of performing, amazing stage presence and impeccable musicianship to every stage they play. Having decades of extensive experience in the music industry they will have everyone dancing, singing, and partying “like it’s 1999.”
WiH: What makes Timeless HTX Band stand out in the Houston wedding entertainment scene?
THB: Musical arrangement and vocal execution. If you have a lead singer and guitarist like Paul Kreuzer, whose voice has been compared to the likes of Steve Perry, Lou Gramm, Bob Carlisle, and Sammy Hagar, then you know that you’ll receive an explosive and dynamic performance. Furthermore, the way Paul creatively arranges our medleys is always a crowd-pleaser. He has put songs together that you wouldn’t think would work together. But the end result motivates an encore from their audience.
WiH: What can couples expect when booking your band for their wedding day?
THB: Timeless HTX will bring their decades of experience in the professional music industry to the couples. From day one we will work with their vision to provide whatever they need musically to their special day. They can always expect an outstanding performance from Timeless HTX loaded with generations of the most loved songs ever recorded. We love to perform on stage and that passion trickles down to the audience to produce an overwhelming energy in the room.
WiH: How do you personalize your performances to fit the style and vision of the couple’s wedding?
THB: We cover a broad genre of hit music from Rock, Pop, Motown, Disco, Funk, and Country. If couples would like to have us perform specific songs not in our catalog, we will also accommodate those. The first two song requests are included in our package. Any additional songs requested can be accommodated for an additional fee. Furthermore, during our performances, we love for couples to be part of the fun by calling them up on stage with us. We will have two extra microphones for the bride and groom to sing along with us and their guests.
What advice would you give couples when choosing their wedding entertainment?
THB: When choosing your wedding entertainment, we would suggest working with people who have the ability to perform many genres of music and have the quality skills to back it up. Choose a band with pizzaz on stage that permeates that feeling into your guests to make them feel like they are part of it. A band that shows they are having a good time on stage will pass that good feeling into the audience so that they can’t help but rise up out of their seats and dance like nobody is watching. Also, meet with the band leaders, ask them questions, and get to know them a little to see if they are genuine “people lovers.” You want to work with people who are easy to get along with and who will listen to and adhere to your questions and requests.
