McKenzie and David met in 2017 on the last night of a cruise vacation. However, due to Hurricane Harvey, the cruise was extended by a week, giving the pair ample time to get to know one another. Flash forward to April 1, 2020, when David surprised McKenzie with a romantic proposal at a beautiful park with a few of their friends. “I remember looking at him and thinking to myself, “this…I need to remember this,” says McKenzie.
On July 10, 2021, McKenzie, radiant in a Galia Lahav gown, said “I do” to her handsome groom David in a light-filled chapel at the Conroe area venue, Iron Manor. Misty Rockwell Artistry did a subtle smokey eye on McKenzie with a stunning half up-do. The couple chose a vibrant palette of pink, magenta, and fuchsia to complement the venue’s industrial-chic interior.
One of the couple’s favorite parts about the big day was reading their vows. “David and I both felt so anxious leading up to the ceremony because we had written our vows, but the personalization of our vows made the ceremony feel so special,” says McKenzie. After a night of celebrating with their guests, McKenzie and David got to slow down and have an intimate last dance alone. “It was so romantic being the only two people left in our candle-lit venue with one of our favorite songs playing…everything about our wedding day was just magical,” says McKenzie.
