Ally and Michael’s love story began like a scene from a holiday romance. In 2019, the two crossed paths at a festive pop-up bar in Galveston. Both in the medical field, Ally had just finished a grueling week of final exams, and Michael had wrapped up an all-day surgery—each seeking a moment to unwind. A little witty banter over drinks turned into a festive photo in front of Christmas lights. The next day, Michael sent Ally the photo, sparking a conversation leading to their first official date the next evening.

Their engagement also took place during the holiday season. Michael convinced Ally to dress up for a “work holiday party” and hid the ring in a toy drive gift bag. A stroll through Hermann Park revealed a surprise proposal setup with photos of their journey together. After Ally said “yes,” friends emerged from hiding to celebrate with Champagne, followed by a dinner where 75 loved ones surprised them. “It was truly the most perfect day,” Ally says. “I still don’t know how Michael pulled it all off, but I have never felt more loved and celebrated!”

Fittingly, the couple celebrated their love with a Christmas-themed wedding on December 7, 2024. The outdoor ceremony featured vibrant red poinsettias, with the wedding party dressed in black, creating a striking contrast. Ally was radiant in her Rita Vinieris gown as she walked down the aisle. Post-vows, the couple revealed the decorated ballroom to their moms and wedding party. “Seeing everyone’s faces was so special for Michael and I,” Ally shares. “It felt like living in the magic of Christmas.”

Christmas held deep meaning for both Ally and Michael. Ally’s grandmother, lovingly known as “the queen of Christmas,” fueled Ally’s love for the season. For Michael, Christmas became joyful again after meeting Ally, as she helped him rediscover the holiday spirit after his father’s passing. “After Michael’s dad passed away, he’ll tell you Christmas never felt the same until we began dating, and I helped him bring the joy back to the holiday season,” Ally says.

Their reception was a winter wonderland, complete with Christmas trees, twinkling lights, poinsettias, and holiday-printed linens from EB Inc. Event Rentals, creating an atmosphere brimming with seasonal charm.

The night was filled with unforgettable moments, from groomsmen wearing their ties as headbands—a tribute to Michael’s late father’s signature wedding style—to a surprise visit from The Grinch. “Watching him interact with our guests was hilarious, and he proved to be the perfect source of crowd control when it was time for our private last dance!” Ally says.

For their grand exit, the couple stepped into a snow-filled send-off before riding away in a getaway car lovingly restored by Michael’s late father. “It felt so special to incorporate this into our day,” Ally shares.
