Miriam and Juan’s love story began by fate on the picturesque beach of Lagos, Portugal, in April 2015. Both were studying abroad in Europe, and they had independently booked trips to Lagos on Easter Break. While enjoying the sunny day at the beach, Miriam noticed Juan sporting Texas Flag swim shorts. Intrigued, Juan approached Miriam, and they discovered their shared hometown of Houston. They connected on Instagram and Facebook, and although they went on a date a few years later, Miriam wasn’t ready to commit. In 2019, Juan reached out to Miriam again with renewed hopes, and the rest is history.
Miriam’s parents had recently bought a house in Galveston. Under the pretense of helping her parents settle in, Miriam was surprised to find Juan in the living room playing “Forever and Ever, Amen” by Randy Travis. After popping the question, the couple’s closest friends and family were there to surprise Miriam. “It was a beautiful day. The water was blue, and the sun was shining, and I knew I had to get married by the beach,” the bride says.
On November 18, 2023, Miriam and Juan pledged their love in a traditional church ceremony. Their wedding color scheme featured elegant sage green, gold, ivory and white tones, creating a sophisticated and timeless ambiance.
Before the reception festivities, Miriam and Juan and their wedding party captured stunning photos overlooking the serene blue waters of the Gulf of Mexico. Blooming white florals, verdant greenery, and luxurious gold accents adorned the couple’s beachside wedding at The San Luis Resort, Spa, and Conference Center. Miriam and Juan had their first dance on a monogrammed dancefloor, surrounded by their loved ones. During dinner, guests were serenaded by a lively Mariachi Band, adding a vibrant touch to the celebration. Cakes by Gina crafted a magnificent five-tier white confection adorned with delicate white roses, perfectly complementing the elegant decor.
Miriam and Jaun are now eagerly awaiting the arrival of their baby boy, due in August 2024.
